Real update? Sure.

Last Friday Kate and I went to see the Skeleton Key. It was actually really good, I enjoyed it.

On Monday, Kate, Matt, Nikki, Jordy and I broke into the old abandoned hospital. We shimmied in through some old elevator shaft thing, and explored. We found a box of old toys and I took a creepy old music box. Kate grabbed a typewriter too. It was sweet.

Ashly stayed over a few days this week too. I love her.

Wednesday I recieved a call from an old friend of mine. So Erin, Molly, Grace and I went out for dinner and reminiced about all the fun we had in grade school. I haven't laughed so hard in a really long time. I missed those girls.

Today I work. Boo.

Oh, I finally got registered for all my classes. My schedule looks like this:

Mondays
Cinema History (Pre-War) 2:30 - 5:20
Culture in Comparative Perspective 5:30 - 6:50

Wednesdays
Intercultural Communication 2:30 - 5:20
Culture in Comparative Perspective 5:30 - 6:50

Tuesdays and Thursdays
Theater in Contemporary Culture 10:00 - 11:20
Introduction to Astronomy 5:30 - 6:20

Will I be seeing any of you in my classes?

Comments

Super quick reply: you won't be seeing me in any of your classes but I may have at least one textbook you can borrow. Specifically I'm thinking the Cinema History, with Culture In... being a possibility too. More info to follow.
Awesome!
For Culture in Comparative Perspective I need "Conformity and Conflict Readings in Cultural Anthropology" and "Mirror For Humanity: Concise Introduction to Anthropology." They haven't listed anything for Cinema yet.

Thanks in advance.
And also thanks for the e-mail earlier.
You're welcome.

Now that I've had time to think about it, I HAD both of those Antropology texts, but sold them at the end of the semester, which was a dumb move (in multiple ways now). However, you should have no trouble finding them used. You'll need one to learn theoretical terms, and the other is just random stories about different anthropolical studies. It was a pretty easy class (multiple choice mid-term & final, plus 5-page-ish paper).

As for the pre-war cinema, I definitely have the textbook, but they MIGHT have changed it. You'll have Virdi, who is the professor I also had, but last year she didn't teach it and I know they used a different textbook. So maybe her return will mark a return to the one that I have. As for that class, I personally found it very easy (2 or 3 very short papers about some of the films you'll view, and a multiple choice final).
For future reference, the film book I have is:
"Film: And International History of the Medium" (2nd edition) by Robert Sklar
weird i have intercultural communication with you
love,
shane
Weiiiiiiiiird I didn't know you were coming to the University.

Ooh ooh sit with me.
yeah i made that up. i dont know why. i was bored i guess. im going in to grade 12. havent seen you in a while though. hope your life is sweet
love,
shane
I knew you were a criminal.
i see a couple comm. studies clases there! yay!!

who is teaching intercultural communication?? i think i took that with garth rennie, but i'm pretty sure he isn't there anymore (chris would probably know). too bad...rennie rules.
Garth is still at the university, but so far only is listed as teaching Sound In Media. I can't foresee him being allowed to teach Intercultural Communication again because he used the "n-word" last year (in an educational context, of course), but a student took exception to it thus resulting in lots of bad vibes around the campus towards him.
unfortunately not =(
there is this one club I was reading about where you view peoples films! could be interesting.
umm... no no you won't see me in your classes. but intro to astronomy is a nice boring class from what i remember

(Anonymous)

i'm in both Culture in Comparative Perspective and Introduction to Astronomy, so i guess i'll see you there.

I was thinking of taking astronomy, but I wasn't sure if first year could take it.
Yeah it's an intro course, first year.
How did you dissapear off my friends list??? seriously? lol
Skeleton Key was chillin.
Haha, weird.

Yeah I liked it. The ending actually surprised me.
